Condition data from the people who service the boat
Owners in Marina del Rey book service in the Helm app. Each completed job adds a dated, photographed entry to the boat’s record under its HIN. Helm opens in November 2026.

Verification
Helm vets every provider before their first job. Providers send a business license, proof of liability insurance, and any trade license the work requires.
The Helm app hashes each photo with its time and place before upload. Helm links each saved entry to the one before it by hash, so a change to a saved entry shows up in the record. A correction goes in as a new entry, and the original stays.
Owners can add documents they already have, such as a pre-purchase survey. Helm labels them as added by the owner and keeps them apart from provider entries.
Condition check
At launch, owners can book a Helm condition check that covers the same ten points on every boat.
- 1Hull and deck: cracks, blisters, moisture
- 2Below-waterline fittings, hoses and clamps
- 3Bilge pumps and float switches
- 4Batteries, including lithium installations, and DC wiring
- 5Shore power and AC system
- 6Fuel system and ventilation
- 7Engines: hours, raw-water cooling, leaks
- 8Steering and controls
- 9Fire extinguishers and detectors
- 10Storm plan: lay-up, lines and haul-out
Sharing
The owner controls the record and shares it, by link or export, with a buyer, surveyor, insurer or lender. Helm doesn’t send an identified record to anyone.
For studies across many boats, Helm provides de-identified data under a written agreement, with the HIN, the boat’s name, the owner and the marina removed.
Pilots
We offer pilots to insurers and lenders who want to compare Helm condition data with their own loss and valuation data. Owners who opt in share their records with the partner, and Helm provides de-identified data across the pilot fleet.
We answer security questionnaires as part of a pilot agreement.
